We are developing an online PrEP service (the Scottish ePrEP Clinic), which will enable people to complete some of their PrEP reviews online instead of having to go into the clinic. The service is not ready yet but we are getting closer thanks to some research we are doing, funded by the Scottish Government.

The ePrEP Clinic will involve two steps:

  • First, you will be asked to order, complete, and return a self-sampling kit to test for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. This involves doing your own swabs and collecting a urine sample and a finger-prick blood sample and mailing these back to the clinic or lab.

  • Then you will be asked to complete an online medical questionnaire that asks similar questions that you're usually asked at the clinic.

If your samples or questionnaire flag up anything that needs further exploration, a member of the clinic team will contact you and arrange appropriate care. Otherwise, you'll be sent your next supply of PrEP or told when it's ready to collect.

In the near future, we're conducting some more research that will focus on making sure the online medical questionnaire does what we want it to do. We'll update this page as our research progresses.
